Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

The Dalada Maligawa holds the most venerated relic in the Buddhist world and has been the spiritual centre of Sinhala royal authority for over a millennium. Daily Puja ceremonies open the inner shrine and fill the temple with drumming, flute music and the devotion of pilgrims who have traveled from across the island.

Peradeniya Botanical Gardens

One of the finest botanical garden collections in Asia, Peradeniya covers 147 acres of the Mahaweli River bend and holds extraordinary collections of orchids, bamboo, palms and a cannonball tree avenue of singular drama.

Kandyan Dance Performance

The Kandyan dance tradition is one of South Asia’s most demanding performing arts – acrobatics, fire-walking and percussion combined in a sequence of ritual dances that trace their lineage directly to the royal court of the last Kandyan kings.
