Ten days through the cultural, ecological and agricultural heart of Sri Lanka – moving from the ancient fortress cities of the Cultural Triangle through the city of Kandy, into the cool highland tea country, across the southern plains to Yala’s wildlife-rich wilderness and down to the Indian Ocean at Tangalle. This journey connects five of Sri Lanka’s most distinct landscape types in a route that builds logically without backtracking.

01

Arrival / Negombo

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer north to Negombo for a relaxed first evening in tropical gardens. Overnight at The Wallawwa, Negombo.

02

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Scenic drive to the Cultural Triangle. A late afternoon climb of Sigiriya Rock in the gentler evening light delivers the summit panorama without the morning heat. Overnight at Heritance Kandalama, Dambulla – a resort built into a cliff face overlooking the ancient Kandalama reservoir.

Polonnaruwa / Minneriya

Morning visit to Polonnaruwa Ancient City for a private guided tour of the medieval capital’s extraordinary concentration of monuments. Afternoon Minneriya National Park safari observing the elephant gatherings around the reservoir. Overnight at Heritance Kandalama.

Matale / Kandy

Scenic drive to Kandy via the spice gardens of Matale. Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and explore Kandy Lake on a guided evening walk. Overnight at The Kandy House – a restored aristocratic manor in the hills above the city.

Tea Country / Nuwara Eliya

Scenic drive through the tea country toward Nuwara Eliya, stopping at plantation viewpoints and a tea factory for a guided tasting session. Arrive in Sri Lanka’s highest town for an evening of cool highland air and colonial-era architecture. Overnight at Heritance Tea Factory, Nuwara Eliya.

Horton Plains / World's End

Early morning excursion to Horton Plains National Park for the famous World’s End viewpoint – an 869-metre cliff edge best seen in the clear pre-dawn window before the cloud closes in. Afternoon relaxation in the cool highland climate. Overnight at Heritance Tea Factory.

Yala National Park

Scenic highland drive south to Yala. Afternoon safari through Yala’s diverse coastal and forest ecosystems with specialist naturalist guides. Overnight at Wild Coast Tented Lodge, Yala – canvas-walled rooms with private decks overlooking a waterhole.

Southern Coast / Tangalle

Continue to Sri Lanka’s southern coast for a first full day of Indian Ocean leisure. Check in to an oceanfront luxury property and spend the afternoon on a secluded southern beach. Overnight at Anantara Peace Haven, Tangalle.

Tangalle Leisure

A full leisure day by the Indian Ocean – optional coastal excursions, spa treatments or simply time on one of Sri Lanka’s most beautiful southern beaches. Overnight at Anantara Peace Haven, Tangalle.

Coastal Drive / Departure

Scenic coastal drive to Colombo via the Southern Expressway and transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for departure.
